Visa Issuance
To study in Korea, you must have a student visa(D-2) at the Korean embassy or consulate in your country. In order to obtain a student visa you must submit the required documents to the embassy, and the application procedure are vary so it is advised to check with your local Korean embassy or consulate in advance.
Foreign Registration
International students must register their occupation and address at the immigration office within 90 days after arrival in Korea. In case that there is any change in your address or occupation, you must report within 14 days.

Re-entry Permit
A registered foreigner intends to re-enter Korea within permitted period of stay, he/she should issue re-entry permit.
Types
Single : Possible to re-enter one time, 1 year at the most within the permit period. Apply to immigration office or at the airport immigration offices.
Multiple: Possible to re-enter more than 2 times, 2 years at the most within the period of sojourn. Apply to immigration office only

Extension of Visa
When you wish to extend your stay in Korea beyond the valid period of your visa, you should apply for a visa extension at the Immigration Office prior to the expiration date of stay. If you do not take the necessary measures for it, you will be fined for violating the law related to the entry and exit of foreigners.

Participation in activities uncertified for current sojourn status
When postgraduate student carry out activities (i.e. research work, lecture assistant, project work, etc) beyond their study, the foreigner shall receive permission for activities in advance.

Permission for Part-time Job (D2 + S3)
After they successfully finish the first semester as a full-time student, international students can apply for a work permit with recommendation from their academic advisor. They can work 20 hours per week for a semester, and during the vacation there is no work hour limit. Students should be mindful of the regulation that working over 20 hours during term time will get students fined or imprisoned, which can lead them to deportation. The permit needs renewal every year. The areas of work that students are allowed to do are jobs related to their major(research and teaching assistance), library and office assistance, translation, and other general labor work.

Change of Visa Status
The foreigner shall receive permission for change of status of stay if he/she desires to carry out new activities which are not relevant for current visa status in Korea. To check the requirements by the status of stay, ask to international center

G4F is a portal site designed to provide a variety of useful information for foreigners visiting Korea (e.g. Visa, Stay, Immigration, etc).
Notes
Foreign students who apply for the absence for the semester or withdrawal, he/she must leave Korea within 15 days
If the registered foreigner after changing his/her place of stay failed report to the Immigration office under the jurisdiction within 14 days from the date, the individual shall pay the penalty fee.
While in Korea, foreign students should always carry with you an alien registration card.
Extension of sojourn period should be applied 1 months before the expiration date.
